Privacy Policy
Opener is a pocket library of opening lines. It does not require an account, does not run ads, does not use analytics, and does not track you. Your saved lines, preferences, and search history live on your device.
The short version. No account. No profile. No ads. No analytics or crash reporting SDKs. The only data that leaves your device is what Google Play and RevenueCat need to process your one-time purchase and remember that you own it.
What Opener stores on your device
The app uses your device's standard preferences storage to remember things between sessions. This data stays on the device and is not sent to us:
- Saved lines — the IDs of lines you've bookmarked.
- Recent searches — up to eight of your most recent search queries.
- Preferences — dark/light mode, which categories appear in the Wildcard shuffle, and whether you've seen the onboarding.
- Purchase cache — a local flag indicating whether the "Opener Pro" unlock is active, so the app can start quickly and work offline.
To delete this data, clear the app's storage in your device settings or uninstall the app.
What leaves your device
Google Play Billing
The one-time unlock is a Google Play in-app purchase. When you buy it, Google processes the transaction and receives the information required to complete it (your Google account identifier, payment method, purchase token, price, and country). We do not receive your payment details. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat
Opener uses RevenueCat to verify your purchase and remember your unlock status across reinstalls. RevenueCat assigns your install an anonymous identifier (an "App User ID") and receives the details of your purchase from Google Play, along with basic device information (device model, OS version, country, and app version). It does not receive your name, email, contacts, location, or usage of the app itself. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for details.
What Opener does not do
- No user accounts or sign-ups.
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no ad identifiers.
- No analytics or crash reporting.
- No access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or files.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Children
Opener is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can remove all locally stored data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling. To request deletion of the anonymous RevenueCat record associated with your purchase, contact us at the address below and include your Google Play order ID so we can locate it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
